Well we have another small game coming from Games Workshop. This one takes AoS and deck building into a combined competitive play. Warbands appear to be same stock its just the cards in your deck that will be different. Starter set is Stormcast Eternals vs Chaos. There are two factions following in Undead and Orcs types. What your thoughts about it? I wasnt impressed with the board play. A simple sheet is kinda of a downer for GW. Although the figures are great as usual and the random draw element built by you is a draw into it. Also a single purchase initially builds your deck the other faction boxes are necessary to improve your deck even when playing a different faction.

It looks like a game that is meant to be quick and dirty. The Let's Play I watched on Beasts of War took about 45 minutes. There seems to be a little bit of on-the-fly strategy that might go into it. But not a lot of chance for customizing squads or decks. Not particularly inspiring.

I kinda felt the same way, but when BoW reviewed the two expansions I turned a little bit more to being interested. The strategy is now the common play for 40k not so much AoS. So depends on your game there I guess. For me this maybe something as a intro for my boys and maybe have them for us of we want to play later.

Ben and I talked about this too. I was looking at it the same as Ben's come around to. It's a small easy game that'll satisfy Grady's itch to play. We can can take it out and play on the kitchen table with little set up, pick up time.

On the whole AoS flavor leaves me wanting... I actually don't like most of the new models. They just don't feel right. (Steampunk dwarves do look awesome, but they should be 40k Squats, not AoS. ) The one exception is the Snailbeast vs. Axe Chick set. Those were the first time I thought hey those look cool! Apart from that, I think everyone else has mimiced my thoughts towards this game. Very small squad sizes, and a chance to get Deck Screwed. Not appealing as of now, it will take alot of convincing to get me on board.

Nice. It's a fun and quick little game. Grady and I have been enjoying it, but without the card mechanic other than objectives. His first grader reading gets him frustrated with that part, but it will come. I still want to pick up the orcs and skeletons. I look forward to getting in some full games.
