So what's the general consensus on BvS? I'm actually a bit torn. I mean for the casual fan...the movie fan or someone not overall familiar is going to love this movie. Good action, good stories, setups to the future DCCU and of course the battle between the big two. If you are a fan of comics, know anything about canon or know your DC lore, your probably going to hate the movie because of the attempt to put in anywhere from 3 to 6 different story lines in a 2 and 1/2 hour movie directed by the new favorite guy to hate, Zack Snyder (Michael Bay rejoices).
Me personally, I liked it more than I hated it but I have my criticism. I will however say, Ben Affleck nailed it as Batman. I thought he did a wonderful job and I'd look forward to see his adaptation of the Bats in his directed/written standalone. As for the Justice League...not as excited for this as I was....I am still excited to see Suicide Squad though.
On a positive note.....Force Awakens on DVD tomorrow!

I really don't know what DC is doing with their movies....apparently they don't either. That was a tedious slog of complete crap. No joy, no humor, a non-existent color palette and the worst version of Superman ever put forth on the screen....and don't even get me started on what they did with Lex Luthor...and the epic battle with a cave troll..ooh sorry, I meant the Abomination...oops again! I guess that was supposed to be Doomsday? Has Snyder ever actually read a comic book?
On the positive side, parademons and boomtubes in the dream sequence!
I liked Wonder Woman and thought Affleck did a good job with Batman. The bat-tech was cool and I loved the voice modulator..not sure about branding criminals though or why the workout of a multi-billionaire was something Rocky would have done 30 years ago to fight Ivan Drago.....cue the 80's montage music!

I agree with most of what Jeff said. They tried to cram too much into one movie. That and it was very disjointed and didn't flow very well. I understand that it was true to the source material but I shouldn't have to red the source material to understand and enjoy a movie. Nor should I have to read interviews with the director after the fact for him to explain stuff from the movie to me.
What I didn't like: I didn't need more Batman origin story, you can cut 30 minutes from the movie right there. Lex Luthor. I didn't feel bad for Superman. There was no reason to empathize with him when humanity starts to turn. Lex Luthor. The Bat-Branding. Lex Luthor. The oddly placed and seemingly random dream sequences. Lex Luthor. The death of Superman, why use such a great storyline in your first movie? Lex Luthor, Lex Luthor and Lex Luthor.
What I did like: Batman, I think they did a good job of showing an experienced and active Batman. The "outsmart Superman" plotline, they put him in a moral dilemma which is his weakness. Wonder Woman, looked great, although very under-developed.
All in all I went in with super low expectations and found myself not hating it. I actually look forward to the Wonder Woman movie. The rest of it though I am in a wait and see mode.
Other than Suicide Squad, that looks really good!

Hmmmm, well I had a lot of stuff mentioned to me early and what I saw wasn't all bad from it. I will say, it is likely to Zynder reference to Michael Bay is very very accurate. You had three iconic characters and you just love playing with them in CGI action. As agreeing on story, even DC comics aren't sure of their stories anymore as 52 was the big project that was effecting their animated movies and that has gone to hell as well. Although the several animated movies of those very story lines are on DVD and also told better. I can't fault the actors for our heroes but Lex was awful. It was almost similar to Two-Face by Tommy Lee Jones. Lex isn't silly or chatter box. He is one of the most calculating villians of DC. Zynder you missed. Doomsday was very cool. Sure he look like a mod from Middle Earth but his effects where in fact epic. I think this movie would have served better if it was Nolan end piece to his trilogy without the Death of Superman plot or had waited till after Wonder Woman and Batman had stand alone films. Then maybe we see this as an Age of Ultron type movie

From my discussions with people, it seems that the more familiar you are with the comic story lines, the more likely you are to hate this movie. Casual fans who don't know canon seem to enjoy it and thought it was pretty good. I think Snyder tried to do too much in this film and incorporate too many story lines from iconic books and that created a mess. There were a lot of elements to like as well, but you have to dig to find them. Lex was awful and there are fan theories floating around the web that this was indeed a Lex Jr. (as stated in the movie) and we could see the "real" Lex in the upcoming JL movie. I hope that is somehow true because it makes me worry about the upcoming Joker performance (The photo of Joker with tattoos was said to be not true to the movie by the director but the trailers say otherwise). We'll see.
