I know we all hate GW here but...
natfka.blogspot.com/2016/01/bloodbowl-returns.html
This looks like an interesting article. Looks like it's scheduled for next year sometime.
According to this article it also looks like they are making it less harsh. Which I have mixed feelings about. Sure jumping into the pitch and having any of your team die on the first game is super annoying and can have you out of the league really quick, but that's what kept it exciting to me. Now granted I never played this on the table top, only steam, so I might feel differently if I took the time to paint my entire team and have them die on me so quick.
Advancement also seems like it might go too quick as one player of your choice automatically gets a new skill.
We'll see how it pans out.

I love GW games it's the company that treats me poorly. Blood Bowl is a passion of mine. Having played many versions on table top and then on Xbox. I felt the rules were fine because the frail teams has the ability to score really really quickly when paired with the right skills. So changing that could mean again GW unbalanced races. If it's good though I could get some alternate pitches from other companies that have sub supported this during this hiatus

But we already have a far better game in Dreadball. GW has realized when they said FU to the specialist games that they lost a ton of money from the only GW games that people can afford to get into brand new. And Mantic and Drop Zone are now making the specialist games OH SO much better than GW ever could and GW can't say Boo about it. So GW wants back into their own festering pool they closed down and then fired the pool boy for.

Yup! +1 to that! I'd be interested in giving the new table top a try. I want to believe the frail teams will still be frail and get injured just as easily, they just won't have folks die on you. I love GW games it's the company that treats me poorly.
