So GW has decided to go back to their specialist games. From what I have read they this team is part of the Forgeworld department and not the parent company. They have mentioned a lot of old classics. I'm curious how everyone feels about this announcement. Are we bitter with GW, or is this too late on their part? Is anyone excited about an older game coming back? Do you think the old models will be usable? Personally I think one maybe two games of old could pull me a bit back, I love Blood Bowl. As for the rest, eh rather play Dropfleet than BFG now. Infinity over Necromunda, etc. So this is a very curious move by GW www.tabletopgamingnews.com/games-workshop-to-open-specialist-design-studio/

If it gets into Forge World's hands it'll just flop once again. Forge World will price it so high that you'll have to have an elite credit card to play GW Specialist games. And with so many companies doing the GW specialist games better than GW ever did not too many folks will feel a need to flock back to the GW offerings. Hell, Dropfleet Commander as a BFG replacement is being designed by one of the guys that originally made Battle Fleet Gothic so popular, and who has a proven track record of bringing the best of the GW elements to a game and making it much better than the GW systems.

An updated Necromunda, or Mordheim, would be awesome. I had far more fun playing those then I ever did 40k. The lack of experience and skill gaining in most of the skirmish games I've played so far have made them feel kinda flat to me. I am not certain that the fatalism is warranted in the coming pricing schemes, and I'm not sure it isn't either. I've seen rumors that the upcoming Betrayal at Calth, which is supposed to be under the Specialist Division, is either going to be $150 or somewhere close to $200. The former in line with their current boxed starters, the latter not so much. Only time will tell there. Droopfleet does have my attention though.

My thoughts on the pricing if it gets into the Forge World department is that it will be all resin and that will drive the costs way up for any of the games. The production runs will be limited and for the number of pieces needed in each box the prices will be astronomical when combined together in one box.

If you are looking to scratch a nostalgic itch for Mordheim, then check out Frostgrave. ospreypublishing.com/frostgraveIt is almost exactly Mordheim, from the fluff of looting chunks of magical rocks from a decaying city destroyed by a mysterious magical disaster, to using experience to advance the wizard that leads the gang.

I may just have to check that out.
From what I've been seeing the Specialists are supposed to be running both resin and plastics. Don't know how much of each, but we'll see.

Even if they did nothing but rerelease the old warmaster figures I would be seriously interested.

I never really caught the Warmaster bug. I was so much more into Epic for my massive 10mm scale devastation.

Well Blood Bowl has finally been released and is hitting it's familiar love for it by the old fans of it. Models are great and the double sided pitch is wonderful.
For other games, Battlefleet Gothic and Mordheim are video games and I expect to see them have something on the table in the near future.
I am only really interested in Blood Bowl so we will see if they spark anything from me from here on out

I could be convinced to join a Blood Bowl League. I haven't seen in of the new rules, but hopefully they have more than 3 teams to start.

I've never played Blood Bowl but I have heard good things. I'd be willing to try it.
As for epic v warmaster... I get the appeal of epic. I just love fantasy more than scifi (by a smidge), I'm guessing there are not many players around here but I do have four warmaster armies. I love battletech to and I ran across this guys conversion of battletech to epic rules. I like the ebb and flow of combat in epic. Which is pretty much exactly how warmaster works.
