So I checked out the unboxing of this starter set. Very impressive as is the usual with GW. I also watched a battle report and I gotta say wasn't blown away. Are you guys interested in this or love it?

I'm vaguely curious about it, but not interested in spending any money on it at all. I've watched the official video with Becca Scott and the Let's Play with Ash and Owen which seemed a little interesting. But after watching the Let's Talk about Warcry video ( link), I got to hear a lot more about shortcomings and lack of depth in the game. It seems like the sort of game that will be supported for a short time and then dumped like other summer time games have been.

I'll play it but not investing in it. I already am invested in Kill Team so I can't afford another game.

I believe it's going to be around for awhile, at least that's the goal by GW. However your comment on it's lack of depth could be something it can't become popular against some already good fantasy skirmish games. Kill Team works because most table top players have something 40k however many unloaded their Fantasy armies and the initial release of Warcry doesn't even promote traditional armies from AoS. So it will interesting to see how it fares

Actually Warcry does allow for existing armies. All the regular AoS factions will have rules for them in the initial release.
It feels like they are using this the same way as Kill Team as an entry level game. I like the additional idea to create unique models just for that game. I am sure you will soon see those new models also have AoS warscrolls just like they did for Shadespire.

I know next to nothing about this. Is it basically just Kill Team for AoS?

Overall yes, It is a Kill Team format. What it misses, is being more like Mordheim which would have had a stronger interest. It will still do well but remember Kill Team had a base format for it, WarCry does not.
It also focuses more to the Chaos for the campaign stuff although you can do existing AoS armies, they will be creating more of these Chaos Warbands than the existing ones at least not initially.
