Well a big thanks to Jeff and Jacob for making it possible to get down to PAX East this year in Boston. You guys are awesome friends! PAX seems to be a roller coaster on the table top gaming front. Biggest missing was again no REAPER and CMoN was a no show this year. Some of the same low profile game developers from prior PAX where there and saw a handful of interesting games. The game developers for Big Trouble in Little China was there. They were doing pre-orders but we did see the game and the components. The minis were awesome and well sculpted. They also had the Rambo game there but the characters were cardboard so it was a little disappointing. LightSeekers had a big presence but I didn't get into as the boys are a little young for it. I did talk to Rock Manor games with a nifty game called Maximum Apocalypse. You play survivors but you can a variety of decks changing the doomsday challenge like Robots, Zombies, aliens, etc. We also checked out Vast which was a cool concept where players play a game but different roles, one plays the knight, the other the dragon, the other the goblins and the other plays the dungeon. It was component heavy so I shied away but I would like to get a game of it sometime. They are Kickstarter another called Root.
There was some demos but didn't try much as I seen most on YouTube. I did talk with Tectonic Craft was there again. I picked up an X-wing tray and he mentioned he was going to be making some Legion bases and terrain objectives for it soon. No presence of 40k, Infinity, War Machine, or Malifaux. All really boxed games. Star Wars Legion was the only table skirmish draw.
Of course video games are dominant at PAX. I didn't notice anything mind drawing to get me back into playing more. There wasn't even a big League of Legends area. Just sectioned play areas for 1st person and racer games I think.
The Cosplay was even less and I didn't see a costume that was over the top like prior years.
So I did enjoy the fact I got to go down. Picked up The Hand of the King. It's an interesting game and should be light enough as a bridge game for casual players and challenging for veterans with the GoT theme. I also got a Krogan Plushy. Love my Mass Effect. If you got any questions hit me up here on the thread and I will do my best to answer
