I'm starting to get my Eschers painted up and I thought I'd post pics of them here as I go. I think I'll call them Tiger Mamas because of the use of bright orange and I'm going to try to pull off some black stripes too. All of House Escher are punk riot grrls and kicking ass at full volume, living the dream and tearing up the underhive. I was able to get a really bright orange on the leader by building up from white primer, then using GW Yriel Yellow, Vallejo Game Color Orange Fire, the top color is DecoArt Neons "Torrid Orange" for her hair. And the halter top, loin cloth, and shoes also got a coat of DecoArts Glamour Dust "Tiger Orange" which is an "Ultra Fine Glitter Paint". I used a turquoise color as a complementary color to the orange which is built up from white, then GW Sotek Green, a shade of Drakenhof Nightshade and highlighted with GW Temple Guard Blue.

But I only have a vague idea for how to do stripes, and no idea for how to do good spots. So we'll have to see how it all turns out. Also their tiny, tiny eyes are a really big challenge.

A basic trick I use is a sharpie. I do it for writing on a model because i cant do it with a brush without causing a blob. Hit with a wash after its pretty good

I've been able to two more of my Eschers painted. Here is my Champion with plasma pistol and poisoned knife. I'm really happy with how bright I was able to get the orange and the leopard spots turned out pretty good too. There are a bunch of techniques and tools on these gangers that I've been trying for the first time.

And here is my two gun duelist. Her custom made laspistols have synthetic jewel casings and chromed barrels. I've been experimenting with using GW's gemstone technical paints for things other than gemstones and I think they can pull off some nice looks. I've also been trying to get better with handling decals too.

Thanks for all the great comments so far!! I did get some success with using a technical pen to put in some tiger stripes and leopard spots. But I also learned a hard lesson that if put Agrax Earthshade over technical pen, all you end up with is really muddy earthshade. Luckily the smearing and staining was contained to the tabard/loincloth and I was able to build the orange back up with a little re-painting. But I haven't been able to get back to the girls to try putting more stripes and spots on. Here is another one of my champions with a chem thrower. This is the figure that had tiger stripes once upon a time. I'm really happy with the way the gas came out. This is the first time I've been able to get a satisfactory look to a gas cloud. I also like how the chem thrower came out. Rather than use the standard silvery "steel" look, I glazed the gun with an orange shade to show that the gun is an expensive custom-made prized possession. The Tiger Mamas see House Escher as a stylish, glamorous House with beautiful ornate equipment, so all their time and money goes to getting and keeping the most and best stuff.

I tried to batch paint my gang so it would save time getting them to the table. I suppose it worked, but I had so little time at all, that it still took forever. But it also meant that I went from having few completed figs to having a bunch of progress to show off. A frustration I've had with these pics is that a lot of the effects I used don't show up well (or look horrible) on camera. The whole gang uses bright orange as the main color, but individual gangers have differences which include Blaze Neon Orange, Iridescent Orange, and Glitter Orange. A big frustration that I've had with these pics is that a lot of the techniques I've used don't show up well or just look muted and horrible. But in these pics you can see the glitter as all the little sparkles in the orange. She very much fighting the gang-war of the Underhive in her high-heeled orange glitter shoes.

Another technique I was experimenting with (which does photo well) is using a "liquid chrome" technical pen/marker. The pen allows you make really, really bright shiny silver highlights things like gun barrels, pistol magazines, knife edges, belt buckles and shoe soles. All of those on this mini have those highlights from the marker but the camera either flattens the effect or it just looks like regular silver paint. On her shoes, you can see how bright the silver is on the boot soles and the spikes. By contrast the rim on the base is also done with the liquid chrome but it doesn't show up the same way. Her power sword is done with a silver base (both paint & marker) and then glazed with Coelia Greenshade to try for the glowy power effect. The chrome marker is super ultra-cool and I would recommend it for any mini with shiny spots on its gear, anything that would have a "lens flare" in a pic. When you turn a figure around in the light, the marker almost make real-life lens flares when the light hits it just right. I found mine at Artist & Craftsman in Portland. Well worth every penny. www.artistcraftsman.com/store-art-supplies-portland-meshop.molotow.com/en/marker-refills/molotow-liquid-chrome-2mm.html

I was able to get a game last month at Crossroads' Necromunda Night. It was a typical first game, fumbling around and getting things wrong, but they worked pretty well.
They are definitely a gang that has a distinct play style that you need to find in order to use their strengths and avoid weaknesses.

There is a really cool looking double-barrel shotgun on the sprue so I really had to use that even though I have no idea how good it might be. She has a bandanna over her face like a train bandit and a HUD eyepiece that I still haven't found anywhere in the rules.
