It'll be easier to start with the 1st list and build into the 2nd list, instead of the other way around.

Very fun game! Mechanics are easy to pick up and run with right away. There is really no learning curve.
Find models, grab a D20 and come play next time!

Frostgrave at CrossRoads was a good time. Very quiet on that day. We did a three warband game and the skaven band of Mark's might not have hurt much but came away with a ton of treasure while Art and I just typically duked it out. Art got much the upper hand on me and only my apprentice Maya was spiteful enough to payback Art's band. This was a lot of fun and yeah we got through it very easy!
If you are a member here and interested in this I will be putting up a video soon. I just finished some terrain for the Dark Alchemy scenarios and that should get me going after the Malifaux tournament. Then we will be at CrossRoads on a Monday and welcome players to join us!

I will say having a characterful warband makes it more fun. Mark's Skaven were all named and worked so thematically. if you are building a warband for video use, build a story too and we should have some very successful videos!

Miss Flowers and her bouquet of boisterous brigands had a very good initial outing. Everyone did very well concentrating on the job at hand. Otto Skar-zany, one of my treasure hunters, took one for the team and charged into certain death to hold up the right flank and distract Ben's very dangerous archer. That allowed The Shadow (thief) and Ree'z Enn (barbarian) to get loot off the table without being shot up. The talented and very ambitious apprentice, Dammett almost showed off a little too much by successfully casting any spell that Miss Flowers had trouble casting. Dammett used a teleport to grab treasure in an inaccessible spot, but almost killed himself trying to cast the spell to get down. He'll have to be watched very closely in the future. My other thief, Spike-Eye, and treasure hunter, Lord Kar-Gnawvon, were able to quietly get loot off the table without getting their paws too dirty. Word of the success has definitely spread and there are plenty of sellswords down at the Homm de Poe, the tavern where many wizards do their hiring, that are anxious to sign on. Loose talk has it that a tribesman of Ree'z Enn's will be joining the crew and that Miss Flower's is looking to hire a marksman for the next trip into the city. There is even a captain that, even though he has been driven off many times, has insisted that Miss Flowers can't be allowed to go into such a dangerous city again without an appropriate escort. Frostgrave is a dangerous place, and it would be such a shame if someone were to walk into a door or fall down some stairs...

Hey guys!
I just discovered this forum/community today and as it happens I found a copy of Frostgrave at Bull Moose only a few days ago. I have read it through twice and am anxious to build a warband and do some treasure hunting.
Questions I have... 1. Are you guys still open to new players. 2. How often do you play? 3. Are malifaux minis good for this?
Regarding the malifaux minis. I know the minis they recommend at 28mm and I believe malifaux are 32mm (30mm heroic?).
I'm so excited to try this out!

Why Yes, we love having new players. As for scale It's fine. Art was using GW Orcs and they are larger than Malifaux. The calendar will post when we are filming Frostgrave but you could see if other members might be available for a game of Frostgrave. I would be up for it after I get the video recorded just let me know when you are showing up!

What is this video thing all about? Are you recording youtube videos for Frostgrave? Thats pretty cool if you are.
It sounded like you had a campaign going. How many people have warbands? I probably need a few weeks to get through the end of this semester and get my models together (they are mostly packed) but then I'd love you play a few games.
Is there a regular night or is it more casual than that?
ps thanks for getting back to me so quick.

Yes, we are initially a YouTube channel. We set a game likely once a month for recording but if you see the 2017 direction we may set a game but I would love to see the other games going while we are filming. However if more patreon support comes our say perhaps we can open up more venues

There were 5 of us with war bands. They were the first games in a campaign. Even though there may be a different game on the calendar post something. Not everyone plays all the games so someone might want to play Frostgrave or something else instead.

well I made two warbands using my Malifaux 1e figs. I'm very short on ranged minis sooo... I had to think out of the box with these bands. In fact between both warbands I have one ranged (besides spell casters).
Warband #1: Menagerie of Mutants Warband Draga the Crone (Witch) Apprentice, Barbarian, Thug x4, Thief, Apothacary.
Warband #2: [Insert Crafty Name Here] Aurelia, Seeress of Thileon (Soothsayer) Knight, Treasure Hunter, Archer, Thief, Infantryman, Man-at-Arms, Warhound x2
this second list is a wip. I wanted a soothsayer so I had opposing schools for demo purposes. I think the second list suffers from not having a 2nd caster so I might drop the Knight in favor of an apprentice... however I don't have a figure for them which is why I did it this way. Comments welcome on my two lists.
Other miniatures games I enjoy (in case anyone is interested in knowing): Battletech, Warmaster, Legends of the Old West, Alien Squad Leader, Full Thrust, and Malifaux 1e (haven't tried 2nd ed yet).
Oh, last question. So despite what the book said the errata states 3 spells from your chosen school, 1 spell from each aligned schools, 1 spell from two neutral schools so a total of 8 spells for a starting wizard. Does that track?

I like the first list for sure, the second could work just make sure you are going quick for treasure and tying up opponents with the warhounds. Your spell seem right but I am not close to my book so can't confirm.

Yeah, I like the first list better too. While expensive the apprentice is pretty important. They are able to cast spells, give you an extra phase with group activation possibility and give your wizard some extra xp with successful casts.

Okay. well the 1st list is my favorite anyway. I'll put a pin in the second list for now.
